Sensei
Mike Ciurka, has
25 years of experience in Shotokan Karate and holds
a 5th degree
black belt certified by the ISKF. He is an International Shotokan Karate
Federation (Canada) instructor
and Judge. He is enrolled in the ISKF Instructor program. He has competed at
the provincial and national
level.
Sensei Ciurka’s passion for Shotokan Karate can be seen in his dedication to
training and commitment to his students.
Sempai
Carla Buchanan, has been a
member of the Vernon club since 1996 and holds a 3rd
degree black belt certified by the ISKF. She has competed at the provincial
level. Club members’ benefit from Carla’s interest and skill in karate
combined with her occupation as a Registered Massage Therapist and her
extensive experience in organized sports.
Sempai
Jonathan Martin, has
been a member of the Vernon club since 1996 and holds a 3nd
degree black belt certified by the ISKF. He has competed at the provincial
level.
Club members enjoy Jonathan’s
tough workouts as a result of his strong interest in karate and fitness.
Sempai Richard Lausman,
has been a member of the Vernon club since the beginning in 1993 and holds a
2nd degree black belt certified by the ISKF.
Richard has been training in Shotokan karate for over 20 years. His karate
experiences combined with his occupation as an RCMP constable enable him to
pass on practical and effective skills to club members.
Sempai Yuri Bos,
has been a member of the club since 2006 and holds a 1st degree black belt in Shotokan
Karate. He has competed at provincial and national level.
Yuri’s previous martial arts experience, strong skills and interest in
karate have contributed towards him becoming part of the instructor team.
Yuri’s focus is on helping the younger members of the club which include his
own children develop their karate skills.
